Foundation For The Academic Development of Underprivileged Citizens (FOUNDATION) is a nonprofit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Minnesota. It is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes to:
The FOUNDATION personifies the attributes of the late Catechist Georgina Korankyewaa, which can be summed up in her famous apothegm: "We look for ways to make a difference in the lives of the needy even as we manage our own life adversities. Because we ourselves, having been rescued from hardships, believe in paying it forward."
The immediate core project of the FOUNDATION for which funding is being solicited is the Catechist Georgina Korankyewaa Fashion School [the SCHOOL] in Accra, Ghana. The SCHOOL provides the opportunity for underserved teenage girls and women in the community to gain careers in fashion design through an intensive 18-month training program.
In addition, the SCHOOL provides the following:
The SCHOOL activities were originally held in two leased commercial store units. To accommodate growth, the SCHOOL activities are now held in an extensively renovated building with handicap access, potable water supply, security fences, toilets, library, kitchen, dining room, and conditioned computer laboratory, lecture rooms, sewing machine room, cutting-edge table room, and conference room.
The FOUNDATION is fundraising to employ and retain qualified facilitators and to supply instructional resources to the SCHOOL.
